How do I play audio files in my Alexa skill?

You can play pre-recorded audio by using SSML. Include a secure link to your mp3 file in an audio tag, like this:

What are the requirements for Alexa audio files?

You can combine more than one audiofile in your SSML response, but the total time of pre-recorded audio cannot exceed 240 seconds.

How does it work?

This software uses code of FFmpeg licensed under the LGPLv2.1 (its source can be downloaded here), and LAME (you can find the license file here and its source here).

We use an unmodified version of FFmpeg and LAME in our server's command line and apply the following options, as recommended by Amazon:
